Marine Radiofacsimile
Marine Radiofacsimile, often referred to as "WEFAX," is a specialized broadcast service used by ships and maritime operations to receive graphical weather charts and other vital information directly over radio waves. Transmitted primarily on High Frequency (HF) bands, these signals are decoded by a dedicated receiver (or a computer with appropriate software) to render images of surface analysis charts, wind and wave forecasts, sea ice conditions, and even satellite imagery.
